Tips for healthy barbecuing

Barbecuing - you would think - is very healthy. Lots of salads are eaten here, the meat is prepared according to the oldest recipe known to man and is not dripping with oil or margarine like when frying in a pan.

But be careful: When barbecuing, certain tips must be followed so that there are no long-term consequences and you can and may barbecue as often as your heart desires without having a guilty conscience. After all, barbecuing is generally very healthy.
With our advice, your next barbecue will also be a healthy meal. Whether you're a nutrition-conscious jogger or a pensioner couple who want to lose weight together - barbecuing is for everyone.
The juicy meat or sausage provides our body with the amino acids it needs to build up vital proteins. The colourful vegetables and crunchy salad are a great source of vitamins and are also filling thanks to their high fibre content. Fibre is also suspected of preventing cancer in the gut and is therefore very beneficial to health. Fresh wholemeal bread also contains a lot of fibre and provides the body with important energy.
If you want to do something good for your body and soul - have a barbecue! Because it's healthy if you follow these tips.

Who doesn't recognise the delicious aroma of juicy meat on the barbecue, which makes eating even more enjoyable. But it is precisely this aroma that should make us take notice: the fat from the meat or the marinade drips into the embers and is converted in a chemical reaction. The smoke that is formed and returns to the meat now contains benzpyrene. This is an unhealthy chemical. However, this is not the only chemical that makes grilled meat unhealthy. The incomplete combustion of organic substances, such as marinade, produces polycyclic hydrocarbons, which are also harmful to health. It is therefore important not to pour beer or other liquids over the meat. Otherwise, simply use a bowl.

Aluminium bowl? - Do without it!

Many people will now think: "Luckily I always use an aluminium tray!" - But this supposed solution, which is unfortunately far too common, is wrong!

As Spiegel Online recently reported, this is at least as harmful to your health. The meat is usually marinated or seasoned and aluminium particles can be released when it is heated. A maximum limit must be observed for aluminium so that the body does not suffer any consequences. However, many adults and children have already reached this limit and should avoid aluminium dishes completely.

"Am I no longer allowed to barbecue?" - No, we have the solution!

‘But how can I still have a healthy barbecue?’ you're probably asking yourself. But you're well on the way to barbecuing in a healthy way - because you've landed on our website. Spiegel Online also reported that the toxicologist Maser only barbecues on stainless steel plates to prevent unwholesome substances. We therefore offer our customers various stainless steel grill plates for purchase. Our most popular is the 30 by 40 cm version, on which you can grill whatever your heart desires - pancakes, fried eggs, vegetables or bacon.

Ham, sausages, meat loaf - do not belong on the barbecue.

Those who like to grill cured meat such as Kasseler or Wiener sausages should now internalise the following advice. The nitrite contained in curing salt is converted to nitrosamines by the heat and, like the chemicals mentioned above, is also harmful. For this reason, cured meat such as ham, bockwurst, Leberkäse or Kasseler should not be put on the barbecue in the first place.

Tip: Always watch out for meat! - Not just because of the hungry guests.

Another tip for your next barbecue is not to light the fire too hungrily. The charcoal should no longer burn when the meat is placed on it, but only glow. Tips for the perfect embers can be found here. All amateur barbecuers should also always take care of their meat when barbecuing, as the burnt areas are also harmful, as heterocyclic aromatic amines are produced. It is therefore best to always grill on the edge.

If you internalise these tips, nothing can stand in the way of your next healthy barbecue. Juicy meat and a colourful salad with vegetables and your body has everything it needs.
